What is PULSE? 
PULSE is a comprehensive heart and vascular program designed specifically for you!
Cardiovascular disease is now the number one cause of death in women. The good news is, it’s largely preventable. With the guidance of our experienced staff, we identify your unique risks for heart disease and give you the education, support and motivation to make healthy lifestyle changes and modify risk factors.
Jeanne Cleveland, M.D., a St. John’s Mercy board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, is the program’s medical director and works together with the PULSE health care professionals.

How does it work?
At the heart of the PULSE program, is the Women’s Comprehensive Cardiovascular Screening, which includes:
- One-hour consultation to discuss screening results and create a personal health plan.
- Cholesterol Screening – Fasting test measuring Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, TC/HDL Ratio, and Blood Glucose.
- Blood pressure check
- Body Mass Index: height, weight, and waist size
- Coronary Risk Profile® personal health report
PULSE services are provided by a a nurse educator, exercise physiologist, and dietician.
You don’t need a physician’s referral to receive the screening evaluation, although your physician may recommend this consultation to help you develop a personalized plan for healthy living.
Additional services include:
- Consultation with a dietitian for nutrition guidance and weight loss planning.
- Consultation with an exercise specialist for individual fitness plan.
