The John B. Shapleigh Scholarship Fund

Provided by The Hospice Foundation of Greater St. Louis and St. John's Mercy Hospice, this scholarship honors Dr. John. B. Shapleigh, II, founder of the St. Luke’s Hospice and former Medical Director of St. John's Mercy Hospice. As a pioneer and noted authority in the field of hospice care in the St. Louis Community, Dr. Shapleigh has dedicated his life to the advancement of hospice care and the enhancement of its profile in the medical community. With this scholarship we seek to honor his legacy by supporting a new generation of medical professionals to develop deeper understanding of, and commitment to, hospice care.

The scholarship is open for all applicants, and is awarded annually to any individual currently undertaking, or planning to undertake higher education in the field of healthcare/medicine, with special emphasis on hospice care.
