St. John's Mercy Hospice Bereavement Program

The St. John's Mercy Hospice Bereavement Program is available to all families and friends who have lost a loved one in our hospice program. We encourage you to take part in this 13-month program, which includes personal visits, phone calls, mailings, information and referral. We hope that these serve as bridges to your healing process.

Grief support groups are offered at the David C. Pratt Cancer Center. These groups are open to anyone who would like support and information about the process of grief and loss. Participants are encouraged to attend all six sessions. Group membership is closed after the second week to increase group cohesion.

Memorial Celebration Services will be held biannually in both St. Louis and Washington. The celebrations provide an opportunity for bereaved families, friends, and staff to honor the lives of patients cared for by St. John’s Mercy Hospice. These interactive services are geared toward all ages, spiritual beliefs and practices.
We encourage you to participate and will continue to stay in touch through scheduled phone calls, monthly newsletters, announcements, email, and individual counseling sessions. These bereavement services will be available to you for a full 13 months.

In addition, please note that following this period you will be receiving a survey developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. The data collected is used to assist St. John’s Mercy Hospice as well as hospice programs throughout the United States in continually improving and expanding services. Your help in completing the survey with your valuable feedback would be much appreciated. If you have any questions about our hospice or bereavement services, please contact us at any time:

Lee Richards MSW LCSW, Bereavement Coordinator, at 314.729.4417 or richcl@stlo.mercy.net.

Amanda Williams, Bereavement Specialist, 314.729.4419, willa6@stlo.mercy.net
