Sedation Unit

The Pediatric Outpatient Sedation Unit (POS) is a specialized area within St. John’s Mercy Medical Center for children less than 16 years of age or with special needs, that requires sedation for outpatient procedures. These are non-surgical procedures, usually involving radiology or audiology. The unit is staffed with pediatric anesthesiologists, pediatric nurses with PALS certification, and supported by pediatric pharmacists.
