A pediatric urologist is a specialist trained to treat conditions of
the reproductive tract in males and conditions of the urinary tract in
males and females.
The most common condition pediatric urologists treat
is urinary tract infection, but several other problems
may require you to bring your child in for evaluation
and treatment such as backup of urine from the bladder
into the ureter, bedwetting, obstructions and congenital
abnormalities. You should be prepared to answer questions for a complete
medical history. Your child’s
doctor may inquire about any history of symptoms, illnesses,
injuries, medications, a prenatal ultrasound and family
history.
Pediatric urologists are attentive to
the anxiety that may be associated with a visit to
their office and efforts are made to ease those fears.
