St. John’s Mercy Medical Center operates the only Level I Trauma Center in St. Louis County. (Level I centers represent large urban hospitals that commit a significant amount of resources to research in improving care of traumatized patients.) The Medical Center handles a major share of the area's trauma cases and provides medical direction for six fire/ambulance districts. Our Emergency department staff diagnoses and treats major and minor traumatic and medical emergencies, providing advanced care 24 hours a day, every day. For more information, call 314-251-6090.

| St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Washington, Mo., is a Level III trauma center. (Level III centers usually represent rural hospitals with the resources and capabilities to provide specialized trauma care, and have further demonstrated a commitment to provide that care with a high level of expertise.) As the only Level III trauma center between St. Louis and Jefferson City, St. John’s Mercy Hospital offers an experienced staff of emergency physicians, trauma nurses, trauma surgeons and anesthesiologists specially trained in trauma care.
