Primaris
Quality Hospital Award 2006
Only
one hospital in the state is selected to receive the award each year, which
is given by Primaris, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO)
for Missouri. St. John’s Mercy was selected for achieving high performance
in national standards of quality care and for its accomplishments in improving
clinical outcomes.
In its news release announcing the award, Primaris notes
that the Medical Center performed “above the national average in 20 of 21
nationally reported measures of clinical care, has nearly eliminated ventilator-associated
pneumonia cases, and has maintained an impressive two-year decline in door-to-balloon
time – a measure important to the survival of heart attack patients.”
The award also recognizes
St. John’s Mercy Medical Center for its remarkable integration among staff,
physicians, leadership, board members and the community
at large. The true winners are our patients, who will continue
to benefit from our recognized leadership as a quality health care provider
in Missouri.
