Residencies are open to graduates of LCME - accredited medical or dental schools. Selection of appointees is made through the National Resident Matching Program. Applications must be submitted via ERAS (medical) or PASS (dental).

All new appointees are required to pass a health examination before the start of their training program, and all residents and fellows are required to obtain either a temporary or permanent Missouri medical license before they begin the training program. Appointments are made
on an annual basis; the starting date is July 1.

Applications and letters of reference should be addressed to the chairman listed to the right.

Note: Applications for positions in the St. John's Mercy Medical Center - St. Louis University integrated Surgical Residency Program are made to the Chairman of the Department of Surgery of Saint Louis University.

Personal interviews are required. When the application form is completed, an interview will be arranged. During the interview, the applicant will tour the Medical Center and will meet other residents.

The policy of St. John's Mercy Medical Center is to seek and select persons for appointment, employment or admission and to train, advance, promote, transfer and compensate such persons on the basis of individual capability, potential or contribution to the programs and goals of the institution. St. John's Mercy fosters the recognition, development and optimal use of the capabilities of women, racial minorities and disabled persons. Also, St. John's Mercy observes, respects and supports stated state and federal government policies that preclude discrimination. Each department chairman, administrator, supervisor and employee of St. John's Mercy is responsible for conducting appointment and employment activities in compliance with this policy.
